Community Engagement & Historic Preservation Films
Louis Bloch Park Film
Clark Public Utilities wanted to highlight its commitment to community service by showcasing the partnership between the utility, its employees, and the leaders of the Camas-Washougal Babe Ruth League in raising money to replace the lights at Louis Bloch Park in Camas, Washington.
Research activities included: Internet research to learn the 75-year history of the park, and its importance to the community; phone interviews with project stakeholders and potential interviewees; search for historic photos and memorabilia related to the Park; site visits to Camas to determine potential filming locations at and around the Park during the project’s six-month period.
Additional research: After the documentary was completed, a local movie theatre wanted to show the film. Digital Wave then researched licensed music rights relating to theatrical release, and negotiated with the music library to secure a reduced licensing fee for Clark PUD. Digital Wave also researched and negotiated digital encoding options for large screen theatrical presentation.
History Transformed Film
John Russell is responsible for building or remodeling some of Portland, Oregon’s most iconic downtown office buildings. But his philanthropic legacy to the city might just be the number of historic buildings he has lovingly renovated and restored. John’s most recent “labor of love” is the restoration of the Hallock & McMillan Building, Portland’s first and oldest commercial brick and cast-iron building. “History Transformed” is the story of how John and his team restored the Hallock & McMillan to its 1857 glory, and why this restoration represents an important chapter in Portland’s history.
